Everyone has one. Ironic how a five letter term can hold so much emotion and pain. When does "the ex" stop being "the ex"<br /><br />John* (changed name for all intents and purposes) and I had been together for two years. Actually - 1 year 4 months, if you don't include the "break" period. Yes we took six months to take "a break". I took a break for six months, John decided to hook up with his longterm girlfriend. When we got back together, he lied and said he spent it alone. After a few months, the lies came out and I dumped his sorry a**.<br /><br />Here I am, two years later, and I'm still thinking about the relationship - and I'm left wondering why. Why can't I forget about the one jerk in my life who could not give a crap about me? I have two exes that I barely give a thought to. Why is it that we're so tied and connected to the ones that screw us over?<br /><br />Are we meant to live a life of misery?
